Chapter House Is Open

The Fraternity House is open with a few changes. As you know, gyms, libraries and bars are closed so we renovated some areas of the House to fill those voids. The main room is a gathering room with many sofas, the Card room is now a study room, the Gentlemen’s room (where the pool table was) is now a small workout room with gym equipment and the basement area is now a lounge. All this was made possible by the generous donations from alumni and the work of the actives.

In addition, the House has sanitizer stations and symptom signage posted everywhere for actives to stay healthy. There are 17 actives living in the House and 13 actives living out, but still in Berkeley. Another 14 are living at home and doing virtual classes and may return later. Despite the challenges presented we are in relatively good shape. However, it is a tough year and alumni support is more crucial than ever. The Alpha Sigma Alumni membership year runs July 1 to June 30 and we are well on our way to raising $20,000 for the 2020-21 school year. We have heard from only 42 of our 586 living alumni so far but have raised $15,120 — thanks in great part to an anonymous donation of $10,000. If all alums gave at least $25 (or more) we will reach our goal. There is a tremendous need this year in helping the fraternity through a difficult period and our PIKE Chapter needs your support more than ever, especially with added expenses related to keeping the House clean and our actives healthy.
